Shopify product CSV precheck

Precheck a Shopify Product CSV Before Importing

Product CSV files can look fine at first glance but still contain uneven rows, repeated headers, blank fields, product codes Excel may change, or delimiter problems. A local precheck helps you review common file-format issues before importing.

Quick checklist

  • Check whether the CSV opens in one column
  • Review blank or duplicate headers
  • Look for uneven rows or repeated header rows
  • Review Handle, Title, SKU, and variant columns when present
  • Flag leading zeros, long IDs, and product codes Excel may change
  • Download review rows before import

Why a Shopify product CSV may not import cleanly

Product CSVs often include many repeated product rows, variant rows, image fields, option fields, and SKU-like values. A small file-format issue can make the import preview confusing.

Argon checks common CSV structure and spreadsheet issues locally in your browser. It does not connect to Shopify or change your store.

Common product CSV issues to review first

Start with headers, row lengths, delimiters, and product-code-like values. If Excel changed SKUs or IDs before you saved the file, the CSV may already contain changed text.

Keep a backup of the original export, then review rows Argon flagged before importing or editing the file further.
